About the album

Simon Posford described this one as eight songs cut into twenty pieces, each part a phase of a dream. That's a tall order for an album, and Shpongle filled it with a bigger cast than ever: Pete Callard on acoustic and electric guitars, Hari-Om on vocals, Chris Barker on bass and Ott adding timbales, alongside Raja Ram's flute and voice. Kevin Metcalfe mastered it at Soundmasters, and the music flows without a single gap from first note to last.

"Botanical Dimensions" opens with acoustic guitar and drifts into "Outer Shpongolia," where things begin to bubble. The middle of the record picks up pace with "Circuits Of The Imagination" and "Linguistic Mystic," and the final side moves from "Invocation" and "Molecular Superstructure" into the hushed "Exhalation" before "Falling Awake," Callard's closing piece, wakes you gently. The album is dedicated to the writer Terence McKenna, whose voice and ideas run all the way through it.

It was announced at the time as the last Shpongle album. More albums followed, which is the most Shpongle way imaginable to honour a title about nothing being lost.
