The American Aftermath opens with "Paint It, Black," a two-week No. 1 on the Hot 100, and this RSD Black Friday pressing puts it on 180g clear vinyl. The LP reached No. 2 in the US, went platinum and sits on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums.
Aftermath was the first Rolling Stones album written entirely by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and Brian Jones coloured it with sitar, marimba and dulcimer. The US edition, issued in summer 1966, leads with "Paint It, Black" in place of four UK songs.
"Under My Thumb," "Stupid Girl" and "Lady Jane" show the band's widening range, and "Going Home" stretches past eleven minutes, an early sign of how far they would push a blues jam.
"Aftermath also happens to be one of the band's best recordings, and one of the most peculiar as well."
