Michael Kiwanuka's 2012 debut album Home Again on limited green vinyl, with "I'm Getting Ready" and "I'll Get Along."
This limited edition pressing puts Home Again on green vinyl, made in the EU. The album reached No. 4 in the UK and was produced by Paul Butler of The Bees in a basement studio on the Isle of Wight.
With his classic soul voice and sweet sound, Michael Kiwanuka's debut album Home Again showcases the BBC Sound of 2012 winner's range and depth. Inspired by '70s soul, this record blends acoustic folk and a sprinkle of jazz with retro soul to create an album that brings you back in time. With singles like "I'm Getting Ready" and "I'll Get Along," this green vinyl reissue is sure to bring you back into Kiwanuka's warm, soulful world.
Butler recorded it at The Steam Rooms, the studio in the basement of his house in Ventnor, and the warm, unhurried production does a lot of the talking. "Tell Me a Tale" opens with flute and strings, the title track is a gentle, homesick ballad, "Bones" sways like an old 45, and "Worry Walks Beside Me" closes on a quiet, bluesy note.
The Guardian's Alexis Petridis praised how it ticks a lot of boxes without sounding like it set out to, and Clash compared his voice to Bill Withers. It's still the one we put on when a Saturday gets busy; the queue has never once complained.
