Grant Green's gorgeous 1965 Blue Note album Idle Moments, with Joe Henderson and Bobby Hutcherson: "Idle Moments," "Jean de Fleur" and "Django." Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series.
Idle Moments is widely considered guitarist Grant Green's masterpiece, a relaxed, elegant session that ranks among Blue Note's most beloved albums.
Grant Green's clean, bluesy, horn-like guitar lines lead a stellar sextet here: Joe Henderson on tenor sax, Bobby Hutcherson on vibes, Duke Pearson on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Al Harewood on drums. Recorded in 1963 at Rudy Van Gelder's studio, it glows with late-night warmth.
The 15-minute title track is a hushed, beautiful slow blues, "Jean de Fleur" swings brightly, John Lewis' "Django" is achingly lovely, and "Nomad" stretches out with grace.
