About the album

Michael produced and arranged the album himself in London, and he stepped back from the camera to let the songs speak. The cover crops Weegee's 1940 photo of a crowd at Coney Island.

It topped the UK chart and sold around eight million copies. Praying For Time went to number one in the US.

"It's hard to begrudge George his coming of age."
Stuart Maconie, NME
