Label: Columbia / Legacy · Cat#: 19802848671 · Released: September 25, 2026 (30th anniversary reissue; originally released July 30, 1996)

Recorded April 10, 1996 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, MTV Unplugged was Alice In Chains' first concert since early 1994, and one of the last shows with singer Layne Staley, who played only four more dates (opening for KISS) that summer. Heart guitarist Scott Olson joined the band, making it their only performance as a five-piece. Stripped back to acoustic guitars, the band's darkest material, including "Down In A Hole," "Rooster" and "Would?", lands even heavier, and the set debuted "Killer Is Me," a new song Jerry Cantrell finished only hours before the taping.

The album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and went 2x Platinum in the US and Gold in Canada. Reviews were mixed at the time, but it is now widely regarded as a landmark live album. This 30th anniversary edition is the first time the full 13-song set has been available on vinyl in the US, pressed on standard black vinyl across two LPs.
