About the album

Reunions usually start with a phone call. This one started with Mark Hoppus's lymphoma diagnosis in 2021, which prompted Tom DeLonge to reach out, then a quiet meeting with Travis Barker where the three of them talked through the old disputes and decided they'd rather be a band again. It was the classic line-up's first album together since 2011.

Barker produced the whole thing, the first Blink album he's handled start to finish, mostly at The Waiting Room, his studio in Woodland Hills, California. The songs look back at friendship, growing up and Hoppus's illness, with "Anthem Part 3" nodding to the band's own history, "Dance With Me" and "Edging" going straight for the pogo, and "When We Were Young" getting reflective. Graffiti artist Eric Haze drew the smiley logo on the physical editions.

Barker said he kept their old producer Jerry Finn in mind while building the songs. Singles from the album have racked up 33 weeks at No. 1 on Alternative Airplay, so we suspect Finn would have approved, and possibly asked for a raise.
