For You is the sixth studio album by Japanese singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita, released in January 1982. It followed the success of his 1980 album Ride on Time, with Yamashita’s busy touring schedule throughout 1981 giving his band more time to develop their sound on the road.

Upon release, For You became Yamashita’s second major hit album, reaching number one on the Oricon LP chart. It was also his final studio album for the AIR/RVC label. The album helped establish his signature “summer” sound, blending polished pop, soul, funk, and soft rock with a distinctly seaside atmosphere. Its production was designed to take advantage of improving car stereos and portable cassette players, reinforcing its relaxed resort-pop feel.

Several tracks were used in commercials, including “Sparkle” and “Loveland, Island,” while “Your Eyes” was featured in a Nissui advertisement. The album’s iconic cover was illustrated by Eizin Suzuki after Hiroshi Nagai was unavailable.
