Takanaka is the second studio album by Japanese musician, producer, and composer Masayoshi Takanaka, released by Kitty Records in March 1977. The album features contributions from Rey Ohara, formerly of the Sadistic Mika Band, as well as Jun Fukamachi, Shigeru Inoue, and Chris Mosdell. It was recorded and mixed at Polydor Studio in Tokyo.

One of the album’s highlights is “Ready to Fly,” a song Takanaka had previously performed as a member of the Sadistics. It would go on to become one of his most recognizable compositions and a staple of his live performances.

The album’s cover photograph was inspired by American rock and roll legend Chuck Berry, adding to its playful and stylish presentation. Takanaka captures the guitarist early in his solo career, combining jazz fusion with rock and funk while establishing the energetic guitar-driven sound that would define much of his later work.
