Finger Dancin' is the eighth studio album by Japanese guitarist, composer, and producer Masayoshi Takanaka, released by Kitty Records on September 1, 1980. Unlike his later concept album The Rainbow Goblins, Finger Dancin' is a compact four-track release, originally issued as a 12-inch 45 RPM record.
The album showcases Takanaka's signature melodic guitar playing alongside elements of funk, jazz fusion, disco, pop, and rock. Its arrangements are polished and energetic, combining guitar with keyboards, bass, drums, percussion, horns, and strings. The tracklist consists of “Space Wagon,” “Plastic Tears,” “Finger Dancin',” and “Heart Ache,” with the title track serving as the album's central showcase.
The record captures Takanaka experimenting with tighter, groove-focused arrangements while retaining his distinctive guitar-driven sound. Released just months before The Rainbow Goblins, it represents an important step toward the elaborate production and imaginative musical worlds that would define his work in the early 1980s.
