The Stooges is the self-titled debut studio album by the American rock band the Stooges, released on August 5, 1969, by Elektra Records. Widely regarded as a pioneering proto-punk album, it reached No. 106 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. The album spawned the singles "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "1969," with the latter earning a place at No. 35 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Songs." In 2020, Rolling Stone also ranked the album No. 488 on its revised list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
