1970, USA, Includes Company Inner - Disc VG+
This is a first-run US copy on the marbled Elektra butterfly label. Rolling Stone ranked the album No. 191 on its 500 Greatest Albums in 2003. It moved up to No. 94 in 2020.
The Stooges cut Fun House at Elektra Sound Recorders in Los Angeles between 11 and 25 May 1970, and stayed at the Tropicana Motel during the sessions. Elektra boss Jac Holzman hired producer Don Gallucci, the former Kingsmen keyboard player. After the first day the band had the studio's baffles and soundproofing pulled out and set up as if for a gig, and Iggy sang into a handheld mic. Ron Asheton said they did a track a day and rarely went past four takes.
Iggy Pop, Ron and Scott Asheton and Dave Alexander make up the band on the LP. Steve Mackay joins them on tenor sax for the three songs on side two.
