Ultraviolence is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey, released on June 13, 2014, through Polydor and Interscope Records. Although Del Rey initially suggested she was unlikely to release another album following her major-label debut, Born to Die (2012), she began developing its successor in 2013. Recording continued into 2014, when she worked extensively with producer Dan Auerbach, reshaping what she had previously considered a finished project. The album also features production from Paul Epworth, Greg Kurstin, Daniel Heath, and Rick Nowels. In contrast to the polished pop sound of Born to Die, Ultraviolence embraces a more guitar-driven style and stripped-back vocal delivery, creating a sound rooted primarily in psychedelic rock while incorporating influences from dream pop, desert rock, and slowcore.
