An Indie Exclusive black marble vinyl pressing of Mk.gee's 2024 debut Two Star & the Dream Police, back on wax for 2026.
This is the 2026 Indie Exclusive pressing on black marble vinyl. Two Star & the Dream Police topped year-end lists at The New York Times, Clash and Dazed, and Pitchfork called it a "magnificent debut album."
Every few years a guitar player comes along who makes other guitar players put down their coffee, and in 2024 that was Michael Gordon, better known as Mk.gee. Two Star & the Dream Police came out on R&R in February 2024, a 33-minute fog of '80s pop, soft rock and late-night R&B that Gordon produced and mixed himself, with his longtime friend Dijon co-producing "New Low" and "DNM." It was his first album to chart anywhere (No. 8 on the UK Independent Albums chart), and by December it was crowding the top of year-end lists, including No. 2 at The New Yorker and No. 3 at the Los Angeles Times.
Then it kept going. "Are You Looking Up" turned up on The Bear, he made his TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and played "Alesis" on Saturday Night Live, and none other than Eric Clapton went on record praising his playing. Pitchfork later slotted it into its list of the best albums of the decade so far. Put it on late, with the lights low, and let "Candy" and "Dream Police" do the rest: it sounds like a radio station you can only pick up in one particular parking lot, and that's precisely the charm. It's a short record, too, which only makes it easier to flip back to side one.
