An Indie Exclusive 2LP of Lizzy McAlpine's fourth album Angel, pressed on opaque cream white vinyl.
This Indie Exclusive 2LP puts Angel on opaque cream white vinyl, only at independent shops like ours. It's her fourth album and a clear widening of her sound, made with longtime collaborators Mason Stoops and Taylor Mackall, and the Daily Bruin says she "officially earns her angel wings" on it.
Lizzy McAlpine spent the time since Older selling out Radio City and the Greek Theatre, making her Broadway debut in Floyd Collins and turning up in a Tribeca film, which is a lot of living to pour into one album. Angel is where it goes. She wrote the opener, "The light in the painting," backstage at a tour stop in San Francisco almost two years before the album came out, then made the rest in and around Los Angeles with Mason Stoops and Taylor Mackall, the same two people who helped shape her sound in the first place.
The palette is bigger this time, running from '70s Laurel Canyon folk to modern indie with a little Broadway theatre in the arrangements, and the songs move from heartbreak toward friendship, family and finding your own feet again. "Ugly things" is a standout, "Anybody's fool" and "The moon" are lovely, "Mason's song" is a sweet tribute to her producer, and the closing title track lands the whole thing gently. It came out on RCA in September 2026, and if "ceilings" or "Spring Into Summer" ever wrecked you in the best way, this is the LP to put on next, cream white wax and all.
"This new lyrical ground McAlpine explores successfully offers up a fresh take on her signature sound."
