Geese live at The Blue Room in Nashville, cut direct-to-acetate weeks before Getting Killed came out, on LP from Third Man Records.
Recorded direct-to-acetate at Third Man's Blue Room in June 2025, the band debuting much of Getting Killed before anyone had heard it. That album went on to be named the best of 2025 by NME, Stereogum and The New Yorker.
Third Man's Blue Room in Nashville has a neat party trick: the band plays, and the performance goes straight onto a lacquer, no overdubs, no second chances. Geese walked into it on June 11, 2025, a few weeks before Getting Killed came out on Partisan, and used the sold-out night to road-test a set that almost nobody in the room had heard yet. Eight songs made the record, from "Islands of Men" and "Au Pays du Cocaine" through "Taxes" and "Trinidad."
In hindsight, the timing was ridiculous. Getting Killed went on to top year-end lists at Stereogum, NME and The New Yorker, picked up a 9.0 and Best New Music from Pitchfork, and Cameron Winter and company, who started out as Brooklyn high schoolers rehearsing in a Fort Greene basement, ended up making their Saturday Night Live debut in January 2026. Hearing these songs this raw, with the band clearly feeling out the edges in real time, is a bit like finding the demo tape of a record you already love. Third Man put it out in February 2026, and if you've got Getting Killed on the shelf, this one belongs right beside it.
On Third Man Records, first out in 2026.
