The Originals II (VIP 5504–5506) was issued in Japan on March 15, 1978, exactly one year after the Japanese release of The Originals. Its release coincided with the start of the band’s brief second tour of Japan, during which KISS set a new record at Tokyo’s Budokan by performing five consecutive sold-out shows, matching a record previously associated with The Beatles.
Distributed by Victor Musical Industries, this Casablanca Records set continued the approach of the earlier Japanese edition by compiling the band’s next three studio albums. Among vinyl collectors, The Originals II is widely regarded as a highly sought-after item—often described as a “holy grail” of KISS releases.
