The genre-smashing splatter that stands as the Bad Brains' equivalent to the Clash's London Calling

"Hardcore" is usually the easy fallback term used to describe Bad Brains, but on 1986's I Against I the fierce Washington, D.C. outfit turned in a classic that documented their genre-blurring versatility and went on to influence a legion of fellow musicians, from Sepultura and Lamb of God to Sublime to Jeff Buckley, who covered the title track in 1992. Based on the album's willingness to explode the confines of punk rock and stir reggae, funk and heavy metal into the mix wherever the band saw fit, rightly points out that "I Against I was for Bad Brains what London Calling was for the Clash."
